Cinexpert - Movie-going population barometer September 2016

In September 2016, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (56.4% compared to 54.1% in August 2016).

The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience decreased (12.9% in September 2016 compared to 16.3% in August 2016). Cumulatively, over the nine last months of 2016, the share of 3-14 years old reached 14.2%. The share of 15-24 years old decreased slightly in September 2016 (17.9%, compared to 18.7% in August), whereas the share of seniors increased significantly (28.3% compared to 23.6% in August). The share of the upper socio-professional category increased slightly (33.8% compared to 31.0% in August 2016), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” decreased (40.5% compared to 43.0% in August 2016). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren, students in the movie-going audience (21.4 % in September, compared to 26.5 inAugust 2016).

In September 2016, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during week 37 (34.0%). Frequent cinemagoers accounted for 30.9% of moviegoers in September (compared to 27.3% in August) and occasional.
