Movie-going population barometer Mars 2018

In March 2018, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (50.5%, 49.0% in February 2018).
The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience increased (15.3% in March 2018 compared to 14.9% in February). Cumulatively, over the three last months of 2018, the share of 3-14 years old reached 15.5%. The share of 15-24 years old decreased (20.0%, compared to 21.7% in February 2018), whereas the share of seniors increased (39.5%, compared to 36.3% in February). In March 2018, the average age of cinemagoers is 39 years.
The share of the upper socio-professional category decreased in March (29.7% compared to 30.6% in February 2018), whereas the share of "non-working individuals" increased (51.3% compared to 49.9% in February 2018). This is mainly due to the share of retired (+1,9 percentage point compared to February).
In March 2018, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during week 12 (18.7%). Globally, frequent cinemagoers accounted for 16.0% of moviegoers in March (compared to 14.9% in February) and occasional cinemagoers made up 37.7% (40.4% in February).
