The Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC) and TV France International jointly published the 2012 statistics of French television exports in Biarritz during the 19thRendez-Vous.

In 2012, sales of French television programming overseas increased by 14.8 % to reach 127.0 M€, their highest level for 12 years (129.3 M€ in 2000). Total exports including sales and presales were up by 8.0% to 165.9 M€, their highest level for 11 years (209.3 M€ in 2001). This performance was all the more remarkable in the current economic climate, characterized by a general fall in program prices, the collapse of markets in Southern Europe and in certain countries of Central Europe, and the increasing difficulty of selling to the historical terrestrial networks. It illustrates French exporters’ capacity for adaptation, and the shift they have made towards areas of growth such as Russia, Asia, Latin America, as well as new media.
Overseas presales and foreign funding in coproduction in French television programming were down. Presales dipped by 9.5 % to 38.9 M€, while coproductions slipped by 1.2 % to 76.5 M€.
