New German-French funding programme: first open call launched for the joint development of TV fiction series

The German-French agreement for the joint development of TV fiction series was signed on 18 May, 2015
during the 68th Cannes Film Festival. The aim of the fund is to develop TV fiction series that can be made as
German-French co-productions. Today will see the launch of the first open call for projects to last for three
months until 13 November.

The partners on the German side are: FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW,
Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg. The fund, which is
provided annually with 200,000 Euros in total, is supported on the French side by Centre national du
cinéma (CNC). The maximum level of funding per project will be 50,000 Euros.

The application form and explanatory notes can be downloaded from the website of the CNC and the four
participating German film funds. The Film- und Medienstiftung NRW is taking on the coordination of the
projects on the German side and will be the addressee for the first round of submissions.

The agreement was signed in Cannes by Prof. Klaus Schaefer (CEO, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern), Petra Müller
(CEO, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW), Prof. Kirsten Niehuus (CEO, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg), Prof.
Carl Bergengruen (CEO, MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg) and Frédérique Bredin
(President, Centre national du cinéma).
