According to the last estimates made by the CNC, admissions in theaters reached 22.30 million in December 2013, up from 18.69 million in December 2012 (+19.4%). This strong growth was not sufficient enough to compensate for the decrease of the previous months.
France cinema admissions totalled 192.79 million in 2013, down 5.3% compared with the same period in 2012.

The market share for French films reached 33% in 2013

In 2013, the market share for French films was down at 33.3% (40.3% in 2012). Admissions for French films accounted for 64.19 million admissions.

Increase in admissions for American films
In 2013, American films registered 103.89 million admissions. i.e. a 53.9% market share (42.7% in 2012).

8 films attracted more than three million admissions
In 2013, for the first time in a decade, no film – neither American nor French registered more than 5 million admissions (3 films in 2012). 8 films attracted more than 3 million admissions (12 in 2012). 19 films totalled more than 2 million admissions (20 in 2012). Almost as in 2012, 53 films reached more than one million admissions. 87 films racked up more than 500 000 admissions (95 films in 2012).

16 French films registered more than one million admissions

For the second time in a decade, no French films registered more than 5 million admissions. In 2013, one French film reached more than 3 million admissions (4 in 2012) and three totalled more than 2 million admissions (8 in 2012). Globally, 16 French films gathered more than one million admissions (22 in 2012). 30 French films registered more than 500 000 admissions against 37 in 2012.

Six American films registered more than three million admissions
In 2013, no American films reached more than five million admissions. As in 2012, six American films reached more than 3 million admissions. The number of American films over 2 million admissions (15 in 2013) and over one million admissions (35 in 2013) is the highest since ten years. 51 films drew more than 500 000 admissions (49 in 2012).
