According to the last estimates made by the CNC, admissions in theaters reached 21.97 million in December 2014, down from 23.10 million in December 2013 (-4.9%).
France cinema admissions totalled 208.43 million in 2014, up 7.7% compared with the same period in 2013. This is the second best result since 47 years (211.5 million in 1967 and 217.2 million in 2012). This result remains higher than the ten-year average of 196.47 million.

French films fuelled the admissions in 2014
In 2014, the market share for French films was particularly high with 44.0% (33.8% in 2013). The admissions increased by 40.2% to reach 91.62 million admissions which is the highest level since 30 years (94.12 million in 1984).

Decrease in admissions for American films
In 2014, American films registered 93.93 million admissions, down 9.9%. This result remains higher than the ten-year average of 91.70 million.  Its market share is 45.1% (54.2% in 2013).

Decrease for other films
Non-French and non-American films gathered 11.0% of total admissions in 2014 (12.0% in 2013) i.e. 22.88 million, a decrease of 4.7%. This result is lower than the ten-year average of 27.14 million.

 

Three films attracted more than 5 million admissions
In 2014, three films attracted more than 5 million admissions whereas in 2013 none reached that treshold. 11 films gathered more than three million admissions in 2014 (8 films in 2013) and 21 films registered more than two million (19 in 2013). In 2014, 54 films totalled more than one million admissions (55 in 2013) and 86 films more than 500 000 admissions (93 films in 2013).

Three French films in the top 3
In 2014, three French films are ranking in the box-office top three and made more than 5 million admissions : Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au bon dieu ? directed by Philippe De Chauveron (12.3 million), Supercondriaque directed by Dany Boon (5.3 million) and Lucy directed by Luc Besson (5.2 million). 4 French films totalled in 2014 more than three million, compared with one in 2013 and 10 French films racked up more than two million admissions (3 in 2013). Globally, 19 French films reached more than one million admissions in 2014 (17 in 2013). 28 French films gathered more than 500 000 admissions (31 in 2013).

Six American films registered more than three million admissions
As in 2013, no American movies reached more than five million admissions in 2014. As in 2013, 6 American films registered more than three million admissions. 10 American films totalled two million admissions (14 films in 2013) and 32 films more than one million admissions (34 films in 2013). 51 films gathered more than 500 000 admissions (54 films in 2013).
