Movie-going population barometer July 2016

In July 2016, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (53.8% compared to 54.1% in June 2016).
Thanks to the School Holidays, the proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience increased (15.8% in July 2016 compared to 12.5% in June 2016). Cumulatively, over the seven last months of 2016, the share of 3-14 years old reached 14.1%.
The share of 15-24 years old increased in July 2016 (18.3%, compared to 17.4% in June), whereas the share of seniors decreased (25.7% compared to 29.1% in June). The share of the upper socio-professional category decreased (31.4% compared to 35.7% in June 2016), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” increased (42.5% compared to 37.9% in June 2016). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren, students in the movie-going audience (+3,8 percentage points compared to June 2016).
In July 2016, the proportion of occasional cinemagoers was relatively high during week 31 (nearly 20%). Globally, occasional cinemagoers accounted for 16.8% of moviegoers in July (compared to 13.2% in June) and frequent cinemagoers made up 27.6% (32.5% in June).
