Cinexpert - Movie-going population barometer August 2016

In August 2016, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (54.1% compared to 53.8% in July 2016). The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience increased (16.3% in August 2016 compared to 15.8% in July 2016). Cumulatively, over the eight last months of 2016, the share of 3-14 years old reached 14.4%. The share of 15-24 years old increased slightly in August 2016 (18.7%, compared to 18.3% in July), whereas the share of seniors decreased (23.6% compared to 25.7% in July).
The share of the upper socio-professional category decreased slightly (31.0% compared to 31.4% in July 2016), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” increased (43.0% compared to 42.5% in July 2016). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren, students in the movie-going audience (+1,3 percentage point compared to July 2016). In August 2016, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during week 35 (nearly 30%). Frequent cinemagoers accounted for 27.3% of moviegoers in August (compared to 27.6% in July) and occasional cinemagoers made up 16.0% (16.8% in July).
