Movie-going population barometer April 8 2016

In March2016, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (52.9% compared to 52.2% in February 2016).
The proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience decreased (12.7% in February 2016 compared to 14.2% in February 2016). Globally, the share of 3-14 years old reached 13.6%. The share of 15-24 years old increased (17.4%, compared to 15.8% in February), whereas the share of seniors decreased (30.1% compared to 31.7% in February).

The share of the upper socio-professional category increased (34.1% compared to 30.4% in February 2016), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” decreased (38.6% compared to 41.8% in February 2016). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren and students and the share of seniors in the movie-going audience (respectively -1.2 percentage point and -1.6 percentage point compared to February 2016).

In March 2016, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during the week 11 (more than 30%). Globally, frequent cinemagoers accounted for 27.8% of moviegoers in March (compared to 24.6% in February) and occasional cinemagoers made up 14.5% (18.6% in February).
