Movie-going population barometer May 13 2016

In April 2016, the movie-going audience was mostly made up of men (55.0% compared to 52.9% in March 2016).
Thanks to the School Holidays, the proportion of individuals under 15 in the movie-going audience increased (14.8% in April 2016 compared to 12.7% in March 2016). Cumulatively, over the four last months of 2016, the share of 3-14 years old reached 13.9%. The share of 15-24 years old was stable in April 2016 (17.1%, compared to 17.4% in March), whereas the share of seniors decreased (28.5% compared to 30.1% in March). The share of the upper socio-professional category decreased (26.3% compared to 27.3% in March 2016), whereas the share of “non-working individuals” increased (+0.9 percentage points). This is mainly due to the share of schoolchildren and students in the movie-going audience (23.5 % i.e. +2.0 percentage points compared to March 2016).
In April 2016, the proportion of frequent cinemagoers was relatively high during the week 14 (more than 30%) thanks to the school holidays. Globally, frequent cinemagoers accounted for 28.8% of moviegoers in April (compared to 27.8% in March) and occasional cinemagoers made up 14.0% (14.5% in March).
