From August 20-22, Gamescom will welcome European professionals from the video game industry. Held at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, last year's edition attracted more than 335,000 visitors from 120 countries, including 32,000 professionals. These figures are constantly increasing, as is the number of French companies participating. This year, 99 French companies will exhibit on the French Pavilion operated by Business France, compared to 34 in 2024. This agency is responsible for the international development of French companies, international investments, and the economic promotion of the country.
The European Game Night, on the evening of August 19, will kick off the event, bringing together all European stakeholders. Each year, companies selected by their countries can pitch their projects to potential partners. France has selected two studios from among the eleven applications received: Righteous Tree Studio, based in Hauts-de-France, will present its game in development, Hamstermind, and Blue Ramen Studios, based in La Réunion, will defend its project, Mafate. A networking session will follow this pitch competition.
The CNC will have a dedicated space on the French Pavilion (Hall 3.2, stand A-012), decked out in the colors of its Game France label. It will be an opportunity to meet the key stakeholders driving the video game industry in France: developers, publishers, service providers, and more. This label brings French studios together under a common banner to promote the strength of the sector on a national and international scale. In particular, it aims to support the financing of projects through the Tax credit for video game or the Video Game Support Fund (FAJV), intended for professionals and organizations wishing to set up in France or collaborate with French companies. It also provides data and resources on the French ecosystem (regional clusters, schools, studios, etc.).
