According to the last estimates made by the CNC, admissions in theaters reached 14.68 million in June 2012, up from 14.56 million in December 2010 (+0.8%). In the first semester of 2012, admissions totalled 101.85 million, a rise of 4.7% compared with the same period in 2011. Over the past twelve months, estimated admissions were 221.21 million. It increased to 10.3 % year-on-year.

French titles gained popularity
The market share for French films increased to 44.2% for the first six months of 2012. The market share for American pictures reached 44.9%. Over the past twelve months, French films market share was 44.4%, 43.9% for American films and 11.7% for other films.

As of the end of June 2012, 4 397 screens were equipped with digital technology (79.8% of total screens). 1 209 cinemas were equipped in the digital format with at least one digital projection equipment (59.6% of total cinemas).
